Trevor Chaplin

Though the very definition of candour is to be frank, I’m Trevor.

I was born in a small village in Nottinghamshire back in the 60s, so count myself fortunate that any of the misdemeanours of my youth occurred prior to the invention of social media.

At 16, I joined the Armed Forces (The Royal Artillery). My father had been a Gunner, and that was pretty much enough reason for me to sign up. I served 24 years and left as a Warrant Officer.

A slight change of pace and focus saw me go on to work for a FTSE 100 company, which believe me could be just as eye-opening as the sights witnessed in the forces!

I had the pleasure of looking after one of the largest most diverse property portfolios in the UK, and many offshore locations as well. The portfolio included ownership of new build projects, transferring leases/properties, fit out and refurbishment of all office sites throughout the UK and also in Continental Europe, South Africa and Asia. I also managed projects in high security government and defence establishments as well as in the manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors. The job was as varied as the challenges, most at short notice with limited information and time, but fantastic times with great people.

After serving my time, recruiting a great team working up to the position of Facilities Director, I left after 17 years to set up Candour. I’m proud to say we’ve proved to be a company that really does live up to its name when it comes to Facilities Management and Workplace Optimisation.

The business has gone from strength to strength, thanks to some fantastic partnership working and the opportunity to work with clients who truly trust in the plans and processes we advise. From contract negotiation to stakeholder management, and from operational hands-on activity to strategic leadership, I’m proud to have built a solid reputation with my team and within the sphere of clients we partner with, which includes Private Sector, Local/Central Government and the NHS. I’ve been doing this at a high level and for a long time, and though my role today is as a Director, I’ve carried out each of the hands-on project management roles myself, which means I know who I’m leading, what I’m leading, and what the best ways are to ensure that this results in success.

When I’m relaxing in my own home I enjoy my time with my wife, Julia, and our “Young Adult” Tom, who is currently studying to be an architect. I’m already eyeing him up for clients!
